My Go-To Breakfast & The Beauty of Morning Rhythms
Learning to Slow Down
I’ve been through so many different seasons of life—jobs that required 5:30 wake-ups, late nights where sleep was scarce, and seasons where routine felt impossible. But lately, I’ve been learning the value of rest—really taking care of my body and honoring its limits.
For me, that looks like aiming for 7–8 hours of sleep, trying to get to bed around 9:30 (though often closer to 10:30!), and waking up at 6:30. I used to be all about intense workouts, but right now, low-stress movement like stretching, Pilates, or barre feels best. It strengthens me without draining me, and it’s been such a gift.

My Favorite Go-To Breakfast
One thing that has made mornings smoother is meal-prepping breakfast. Lately, my favorite has been a homemade quiche.
I make the crust with fresh-milled wheat, then fill it with eggs, coconut cream, and whatever’s on hand—thinly sliced potatoes, mushrooms, spinach, onion, feta, or bacon. Every variation has turned out delicious, and it’s the best feeling to wake up and simply warm a slice in the toaster oven. I’ll usually pair it with roasted sweet potatoes I’ve prepped ahead of time. Simple, nourishing, and so satisfying.

Protecting Sacred Morning Time
After breakfast, John and I love to read the Bible and pray together. It feels like such a sacred time—one that shifts the whole day. I can tell the difference in my mindset and heart on the days we start this way.
It’s become something we’re learning to protect as a couple. Beginning with God’s Word not only roots us in Him but also strengthens our marriage. It’s such a reminder that time in Scripture isn’t just for personal growth, but for unity as husband and wife.

A Word to Wives
I know it can be difficult to keep rhythms—especially in busy seasons with kids and everything else pulling at your attention. But it’s so worth doing your best to set them. When you’re rested and cared for yourself, you’re able to be more intentional with your spouse, your kids, and even with your own heart.
As wives, we’re called to be encouragers, and it’s so much easier to uplift and support our husbands when we’re not running on empty. Taking care of yourself isn’t selfish—it equips you to pour into your family with love and joy.
“Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.” —1 Thessalonians 5:11

Evening Rhythms Matter Too
We’ve also been paying attention to our evenings. It’s so easy to fill that time with screens, but we’ve noticed how life-giving it is to set them aside. Some of my favorite nights are when we simply talk—about dreams, struggles, or the little things. Those honest conversations draw us closer than anything else.
And of course, there’s nothing wrong with a cozy movie night, but we don’t want that to replace the deeper connection that comes when we’re intentional. Whether it’s reading together, working side by side, or just sharing hearts, those are the rhythms that keep us grounded in Christ and in each other.

Embracing This Season
Right now, we’re enjoying the sweetness of being in this season together—cooking, baking, going on little adventures, and dreaming about the future. It’s tempting to rush ahead, but I don’t want to miss what’s right in front of me.
The more I practice gratitude, the more present I become—with my husband, with family, with friends, and with the life God has given me. Even something as simple as a homemade breakfast and a quiet morning becomes a reminder of His goodness.
